Lights Out

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Ok. I’m seriously bored.

The powers been off at work for about an hour now and I was going to nap when the guy who tore up my office on Friday came back to work some more on the ducts… I was getting ready to lay down on the floor when I saw him coming in so I sat up and pretending like I was organizing my file drawers. So since I can’t nap and I’ve read everything in my Kindle and my crossword puzzles are getting predictable. I thought I’d write something here. I have nothing planned so don’t expect too much.
I went to meet Michelle for lunch today at my favorite restaurant in Tulsa… Shish-Kabobs at 31st & Garnett. It’s Mediterranean cuisine owned by a Persian family here in Tulsa. They also own The Pita Place at 111th & Memorial. I highly recommend both places. Best gyro platter in town. I’m going to Houston this weekend and I’m so excited about the food!! I love visiting Pamir because I get to eat so much wonderful food. Seriously I’m thrilled that my boyfriend is Mediterranean because I get to eat Mediterranean food as much as I want… And that makes me happy.

Another thing that makes me happy is storm season. I absolutely love thunder storms and lightning and rain and even hail (if my car’s in the garage). Even though my dog Toby hates storms it makes me happy that they make him snuggle me all night. And that’s a good thing.

So Sunday was the first day I braved taking Layla out on a walk. I felt like she has gotten used to the leash enough to go out on the open roads. Turns out I have a lazy dog… Toby will be nine years old this next month and he is still so active… Layla will be eleven months old next month and she after walking past about six houses was whining and jumping up on my legs for me to hold her… She only made it one mile on Sunday but she doubled up on Monday and went a whole two miles. It’s got to be funny to see me jogging with them… I’ve got Toby dragging me behind him, me dragging Layla behind me… So one are straight out in front and one straight out behind me… Plus I’m a funny runner… I don’t know why, ask Michelle… I just look stupid doing it. It’s probably because running is stupid. Whoever invented it is a jerk. Anytime I watch a suspenseful movie where someone is getting chased I start to panic because I think… What if I were chased??? Well it would suck because I’m slow and I’d get caught and killed. And the chaser would also make fun of me before he killed me because I run stupid, then I’d say, “your mom runs stupid” then he’d shoot me. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen.

Okay lights just came back on about 30 minutes earlier than expected. So yay. Back to work.

Also in case there was any misinterpretation of a previous blog post when I said that someone brought out the seventh grade boy in me… Just so you know, I do NOT have multiple personalities, I just like fart jokes and being an almost 30 year old woman I like to not admit that I think the whoopie cushion was the greatest invention of the twentieth century.

I’ve got dreams… Dreams to remember

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

So last night I dreamed a dream in time gone by…. it was really kind of funny. Or not. Anyways, I woke up with tears in my eyes because I was crying so hard in my dream. Why was I crying? Because I found out that I missed April Fool’s Day. I was hysterical because the had come and gone and I hadn’t recognized it.

The funny thing about that is, I don’t think I have ever pulled and April Fool’s prank… Not much of a prankster.

That reminds me of a story… This year on Valentine’s Day, Pamir and I decided to do something a little bit different than just a romantic date. So we settled on “The Ultimate Murdery Mystery”. Well it was a fun evening, definitely something different. It was set at a local winery and the food wasn’t too bad… But the best part of the evening were the oddballs that sat at our table (really, what did we expect). You could tell they hadn’t been out in public for a while… Basically they spent the evening telling us about the elaborate pranks they like to pull on people. For example… they told the tale of how after her sister introduced them they pretended like he was stalking her dangerously for almost 6 months… And then how she like to pretend awful things have happened just to freak out her mom so bad, she said, when she cries, that’s when the gig is up…

That really isn’t that interesting of a story. But since I typed it all out already, you have to read it.

Fla. student suspended from bus for farting

The Associated Press 3/24/09

LAKELAND, Fla. – An eighth-grader was suspended from riding the school bus for three days after being accused of passing gas. The bus driver wrote on a misbehavior form that a 15-year-old teen passing gas on the bus Monday to make the other children laugh, creating a stench so bad that it was difficult to breathe. The bus driver handed the teen the suspension form the next day.Polk County school officials said there’s no rule against flatulence, but there are rules against causing a disturbance on the bus.

The teen said he wasn’t the one passing gas.

Whether he did it or not, he might have gotten off easy. A 13-year-old student at a Stuart school was arrested in November after authorities said he broke wind in class.

Good times in the past

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009

I came across these pictures the other day. Oh how they make me laugh.

Backstory:

My dear friend and favorite color Kelly Green and I were at Camerelli’s (RIP) for her stepmom’s, my current boss’, birthday dinner. Now Kelly is one of those friends, that I will always cherish, because she is pretty much the one person that brings out the complete… well for lack of a better word, ass in me.  One time we went and had Glamour Shots taken 1980′s style. If I can track down copies of those, I will for sure post them, because they are fantastic… big hair, lots of makeup, feather boas and angel wings. So basically she is the girl I can sit with for hours and laugh hysterically about absolutely nothing, or repeat Kids in the Hall lines back and forth to each other for years. Okay back to the story. So Kelly is my friend that brings out the 7th grade boy in me. Yep, I’ve got one of those.

The following is a pictorial history of that night… One of many stories that were made that night. They all make me laugh.

100_0557Just minding my own business… Eating a yummy dessert.

100_05581Aghhh… What the hell is going on?

100_0559Lauren… What are you doing??

100_0560

Heeyy… It’s just me.

So that was many years ago… I can’t even remember how long it was. But I will always cherish those ridiculous days with Kelly Green… I am planning a trip to Virginia Beach to see her soon, so maybe there will be some updated ridiculousness to post about.

new stuff

Today I made the big switch from Cox Cable to AT&T U-Verse.

So far I like it. Whether or not I like it better, only time will tell. I am a bit frustrated with myself for not writing down what shows I had on season pass to record because now it is a blank slate and I am pretty sure I am going to miss out on a few things… Plus I had a few things saved on my DVR that I can’t get back… Like my friend John on “Who Wants to Be A Millionaire”… I guess I can just watch “Slumdog Millionaire” to remember. Also I had an “American Experience” over Jim Jones that was interesting, when I got bored, I would make Koolaid and watch that one. I guess I will have to find other things to entertain me in the meantime until I fill up this DVR with fun things.
